East Siang Celebrates Somnath Swabhiman Parv at Dangoria Baba Shiv Mandir

PASIGHAT, 11 May 2026: As the nation commemorated the 75th anniversary of the reconstruction and inauguration of the historic Somnath Temple, a grand programme marking the occasion of Somnath Swabhiman Parv was organised at Dangoria Baba Shiv Mandir, Pasighat, on Monday.The programme was organised by the Department of Art & Culture, East Siang District, in collaboration with the Dangoria Baba Mandir Committee, bringing together devotees, dignitaries, and members of the public in a spirit of devotion and cultural unity.

The celebration commenced with a Kalash Yatra, in which more than 100 Shaivites and devotees from East Siang district, neighbouring districts, and parts of Assam participated enthusiastically. Carrying holy water from the sacred Siang River, the devotees proceeded in a ceremonial procession to Dangoria Baba Shiv Mandir, where the water was offered at the Shiva Lingam amidst prayers and chanting of hymns.The programme witnessed active participation from people belonging to different communities, reflecting the spirit of harmony and reverence associated with Lord Shiva.

A major highlight of the event was the live telecast of the address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Somnath Temple in Gujarat, which was viewed by the gathering with great interest and devotion as part of the nationwide observance of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv.

Tagom Padung, Chief Councillor of PMC, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Among others present were DACO, officials of the district administration, members of the organising committee, religious leaders, and a large number of devotees.

The programme concluded peacefully with prayers for communal harmony, prosperity, and the well-being of all citizens. Organisers expressed hope that such spiritual and cultural events would continue to strengthen the bonds of unity and preserve the rich cultural heritage associated with Shaivite traditions.
