Joint Inspection on Child & Forced Labour Conducted in Ruksin Circle on 13th May 2026

PASIGHAT, 13 May 2026: In continuous efforts to curb the employment of child labour and forced labour, a joint inspection was carried out by the Labour Department, the Police Department, and the District Administration of East Siang District, represented by the SDO (HQ), Shri Sanjay Taram. The team conducted an intensified inspection under the Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act, the Contract Labour Act, and the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (ISMW) Act, among other relevant laws, in various vulnerable areas under Ruksin circle.

The primary aim of the inspection drive was to create awareness about child rights and unfair labour practices at establishments and work sites.

SDO (HQ) Sanjay Taram advised the public not to engage children in any form of labour activities. He warned that repeated offenders would face strict legal action under the Child Labour Act. He also advised migrant workers to at least be aware of their own rights and to report any instances of wage theft or bonded labour immediately to the local police or the labour helpline.

During the inspection, the team also provided awareness on labour rights to workers through the distribution of pamphlets, display of banners, and direct one-on-one interactions. Key topics included minimum wages, working hour limits, safety measures, and the illegality of child and forced labour.

Earlier, on 8 May 2026, a similar inspection drive was carried out in Pasighat Township area.
