70th Vanmohotsav Celebration 2019 under Pasighat Forest Division

As a part of Vanmahotsav celebrations, a mass plantation programme was organized today by the Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) in collaboration with the forest department in Daying Ering Higher Secondary School field, Pasighat and planted hundred saplings with the theme “Festival of Trees of Festival of Life”.

While attending the plantation drive, Chief Guest ADC (Hq) Tatdo Borang said Vanmahotsava is celebrated as a festival of forest and in India and it was started as a crusade to save mother earth. He highlighted the role of elite society in maintaining ecological balance and the need for creating awareness among masses in this regard. He lauded the ABK and forest department for taking up plantations under tremendous pressure of increasing population and rapid urbanization. We have a very significant role to play in view of the environment threats that the world is facing today like climate change and global warming and appealed the officers and common people to work in coordination, to make the mission successful for a better future.

DFO T Mize while giving “each one should plant one” mantra hoped that every citizen will join and participate enthusiastically. Advocating on preservation of forest wealth the ABK Secretary General Okom Yosung said such celebration spreads awareness amongst people about the harm caused by the cutting down of trees. ABK General Secretary (East Siang) Talut Siram also spoke on the occasion.
